Application for development at Salford Quays submitted

An application for a 3.4ha development on the Ivy Wharf site at Salford Quays has been submitted by equity firm the Carlyle Group and its partner Abstract Nikal.

They have also submitted a detailed application to redevelop the former Colgate Palmolive factory, now named Soapworks, in the heart of Ivy Wharf. The site would be for used 35,300m2 of office space as well as shops, a gym and restaurants. The wider outline development could include a 200-bed hotel as well as further shops and homes. The project is scheduled to take place in stages with the first phase totalling 9,300m2. The site is next to a Metro station and 3km from Manchester city centre.
