Upgraded radiotherapy centre granted planning permission

An upgraded Christie radiotherapy centre at Salford Royal Hospital has been granted planning permission by Salford City Council.

HKS Architects designed the £17 million 1,840m2 building, with Taylor Young as planning consultant. Construction is due to begin in November, with completion expected in 2011. The Christie treats more than 40,000 patients a year and is among the world's largest radiotherapy departments.
