Station set for upgrade

Plans for a station building at West Hampstead on the Thameslink line in north London have been unveiled by Network Rail.

The new entrance on Iverson Road is intended to increase passenger capacity and improve the interchange with the West Hampstead Overground and Underground stations.

Network Rail also plans to widen the pavement and improve landscaping along Iverson Road onto West End Lane, including a tree-lined walkway and new cycle racks. It has proposed demolishing two of its own commercial premises on the corner of the two streets to improve pedestrian safety at the junction.

Demolition is scheduled to begin next March and the new station and plaza are planned for completion by next summer.
