Major scheme in east London backed by mayor

A major scheme in east London was backed by mayor Boris Johnson this week.

He gave the go-ahead for a project including a 27-storey tower and 964 homes at the St Andrew's Hospital site in Tower Hamlets. Investment of £3.5 million will be made to upgrade Bromley-by-Bow station, £1.7 million for education and £4.6 million for a primary care trust facility, while contributions will be offered for road improvements.
