Reception celebrates year's Planning Aid successes

Speaking at the annual RTPI and Planning Aid annual reception, DCLG chief planner Steve Quartermain congratulated the organisations on their successes during the year.

Reflecting on his first few months at the DCLG, he pointed out that planning was becoming ever more important to the government. RTPI president Janet O'Neill reflected on her recent trip to China where she attended the Global Planners Network congress and Roger Hepher, head of planning and regeneration at event sponsors Savills, praised those planners who volunteered for Planning Aid. The unfortunate timing of the event, with MPs on a three-line whip for the Climate Change Bill and the third reading of the Planning Bill in the Lords kept some, including event host Nick Raynsford and Baroness Andrews, away. But this did not stop enjoyment of the evening's proceedings by more than 80 guests.
