High Court challenge against Natural England

A High Court challenge against Natural England's decision to let a stretch of coast in Suffolk erode began this week.

Local resident Peter Boggis has built a line of defences to protect the 14 houses threatened by collapse of the Easton Bavent cliffs. But Natural England argues that the work constitutes a criminal offence because it was built without consent on a site of special scientific interest. The judge is expected to give his decision in writing at a later date.
