National Trust back controversial plans to build homes

National Trust members have backed controversial plans to build more than 200 homes on the outskirts of Wrexham.

At the charity's AGM last weekend, around 35,000 members voted by a ratio of two to one to reject two resolutions from opponents of plans to build on trust land on the outskirts of the trust's Erddig estate at Rhostyllen. The trust's director for Wales Iwan Huws said the development is needed to provide for Erddig Hall and its parkland's long-term future.
