- The Cornwall Lecture

24 November. Young Planners South West. Hall for Cornwall, Truro.

The annual lecture takes the theme of the enduring relationship between Cornwall's landscape and its distinctive identity, culture and economy. University of Wales honorary professor and LDA Design senior partner Robert Tregay will talk about climate change, economic regeneration, renewable energy, housing development and the protected status of the finest areas of the Cornish landscape.

Cost: Tickets will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

- Walking Tour of the Liverpool Echo Arena and BT Convention Centre

24 November. Taylor Young North West Young Planners. Taylor Young offices, Vanilla Factory, Fleet Street, Liverpool.

This is the first event organised by the new sub-group to serve young planners in the Liverpool city-region. A brief presentation and tour will be followed by discussion. The waterfront has been transformed by the arena and convention centre, designed by architect Wilkinson Eyre, that opened at the beginning of this year. Taylor Young acted as planning consultant, guiding the project through the process.

Cost: Free. Refreshments will be provided.

- Affordable Housing - Is It Working?

26 November. Thames Valley Young Planners. Woking Borough Council Civic Offices.

This event will draw speakers from strategic land holders, private consultancy and the public sector. The first presentation is at 6.15pm, with reception and drinks from 5.30pm and buffet afterwards.

- East of England Archaeology

27 November. East of England Young Planners. Westwick Room, City Hall, Norwich.

Norfolk Landscape Archaeology head Ken Hamilton will give a presentation on archaeological issues in the historic city centre of Norwich. The presentation will be followed by a social event at a bar.

- Around the World Ball

28 November. YPwestmids and Birmingham Matrics. Town Hall, Birmingham.

The dress code is black tie or fancy dress. Each table will be given a different country name to represent this year's theme.
