A special extension has been allowed for nominations for the RTPI's Young Planner of the Year award until 9am on 13 October.

This award is intended to recognise the profession's brightest young planner in planning practice, innovation, enterprise or philosophy. If you are or wish to nominate a professional planner who is under 35 on 31 December, you can complete the application process online.

The prize includes a place at the American Planning Association (APA) national planning conference in Minneapolis from 25 to 29 April next year with flights, accommodation and £200 spending money provided. The winner also earns a place at the Planning Summer School at the University of Exeter next September, where they will be asked to give a presentation on their experiences at the APA conference.

A maximum of five entrants will be shortlisted and all RTPI members will be invited to vote for their preferred candidate. The winner will be announced at the RTPI Planning Awards presentation at the London Hilton on 5 February 2009.
