Joint spatial strategy

The North West, North East and Yorkshire and the Humber need a joint spatial strategy to boost economic development, the Institute for Public Policy Research said this week.

A report issued by the think-tank said a spatial development strategy would help tackle perceptions of the north as being a peripheral part of England. Meanwhile, business and enterprise secretary John Hutton announced £3 million investment this week to fund research into the northern economy.
