Makeover for Cruddas Park

Details of a £100 million regeneration scheme for ten historic 1960s tower blocks in Newcastle's Cruddas Park were unveiled this week.

The community is being asked for views on plans for the six-year project, which promises a complete internal redevelopment for the ten towers alongside new landscape and green spaces.

The project gives residents a chance to own their homes in five of the blocks. It also allows them to rent in the five other blocks and in Cruddas Park House, which was refurbished last year.

A planning application covering the five blocks will be submitted in February. Other plans for the area include regenerating Cruddas Park shopping centre and developing low-rise homes.
