Councils to draw up unitary status proposals

Bedfordshire County Council, Mid Beds District Council and South Bedfordshire District Council have been asked by the DCLG to draw up unitary status proposals.

Local government minister John Healey said the remaining area of Bedfordshire needs unitary status to complement Bedford Borough Council's bid, which the DCLG is minded to approve. The deadline for submissions is 17 December.
