Tees plan could create 800 jobs

Plans have been submitted to regenerate more than 27ha of brownfield land at Tees Dock in Redcar.

PD Ports, the port authority for Teesport and Hartlepool, drew up the plans for the £50 million regional import centre that could create more than 800 jobs.

The centre would be made available to a major UK retailer that wants to improve its goods supply chain.

PD Ports hops to win permission from Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council early next year.

The firm's group chief executive officer David Robinson said: "Early discussion with local planners and other statutory consultees have all been met with very positive responses."
