RTPI urges government to set out community engagement agenda

The institute has called on the government to prove its commitment to community engagement by establishing effective consultation processes in response to the Queen's speech.

RTPI secretary-general Robert Upton said: "If we are to have an independent commission to handle major infrastructure projects, there must be the assurance of real community engagement and consultation in the drafting of national policy and individual applications." It has suggested that Planning Aid is well placed to help the government deliver its promises.
