CAP says cities are not growing in a sustainable way

Cities are not growing in a sustainable way, the Commonwealth Association of Planners (CAP) said as it marked World Town Planning Day this week.

It warned governments to fundamentally rethink the management of urbanisation or face major growth in slum populations. CAP president Christine Platt said urban growth can create wealth to lift people out of poverty but it needs smart planning.
