Fine for damage to listed Mayfair building

A homeowner who damaged a grade II listed building in Mayfair has been fined £10,000 by magistrates.

Andrew Cecil cut through original brickwork and cornices on the 250-year-old property in 2005 without listed building consent. He also made substantial alterations to interior walls. Cecil, who pleaded guilty to the charge, has been ordered to pay Westminster City Council's legal costs of £6,000.
