Work begins at Southside

Work has now begun on a £20 million revamp in the latest phase of transforming Wandsworth's Southside shopping centre.

Owner Metro Shopping Fund's investment will provide 1,860m2 of new shops on the Garratt Lane frontage with offices and flats above. The scheme, which is due to open early in 2009, is part of around £1 billion of current investment in the town.

Metro Shopping Fund spokesman Steve Burgin said: "The Garratt Lane phase will provide modern shops, allowing us to attract a vibrant mix of high-quality retailers and create an attractive shopping environment on this busy street."
