Crossrail site under review

A Woolwich Crossrail station could be made cheaper by using a lower building, the Commons select committee taking the project through parliament said this week.

The government has been looking at its design to assess how to cut costs, which will be paid by Berkeley Homes.

A shallower station could cost around £200 million, the committee said. But it voiced concern on government caution in progressing the plans. It stressed that a Woolwich station should stay a key part of Crossrail.
