Best practice gains awards

A plan to develop 800 homes in seven pit villages was one of nine projects commended by the British Urban Regeneration Association (BURA) this week.

Durham City Council and Keepmoat PLC were among the winners of BURA's best practice in regeneration awards for allowing communities to determine how to invest in each village.

The South Humber Bank Partnership was recognised for bringing business and jobs to North Lincolnshire, while the 73ha Baglan Energy Park in Wales was commended for "breathing new life into one of the last heavy industrial areas in Wales".
