Land renewal orders fixed

The government has confirmed compulsory purchase orders for land earmarked for renewal in the Derker and Werneth areas of Oldham.

The go-ahead will enable home building and environmental improvements to proceed as part of the Oldham and Rochdale housing market renewal pathfinder programme. It will affect 90 residential and 12 commercial properties.

The move paves the way for planning applications on three sites that were previously granted but overturned by the High Court.

Residents opposed plans for Derker Station, Abbots Ford Road and London Road because their environmental impact had been overlooked (Planning, 6 April, p3).
