Green travel plan unveiled

Travel plans designed to help employers advise their staff on green journeys to work were unveiled by the government last week.

The announcement came with research showing that personal travel plans can reduce the use of cars by ten per cent and distance travelled by 11 per cent.

Transport minister Rosie Winterton said: "People would like to use sustainable transport more but need help to get started."

CTC campaign manager Roger Geffen welcomed the plans. "Encouraging people to drive less is neither painful nor expensive. The best results come from small amounts spent on engaging hearts and minds," he said.
