The firm has a network of 16 UK offices following its acquisition of Insite Environments, which has offices in Newcastle and Knaresborough, earlier this year (Planning, 15 June, p8).
The Bristol office will advise on a range of strategic and site-specific environmental issues from planning and development to energy and waste management.
Initially, 19 members of staff will be based in Bristol. The firm seeks to recruit consultants to enable growth in the next two years.
SLR director Alan Edwards said: "We have a strong client base in the South West. This office will provide a local service and attract potential employees."
