Olympic Games organisers consider moving canoeing slalom venue

The 2012 Olympic Games organisers are considering moving the canoeing slalom venue because of a risk of contamination at the original site in Broxbourne, Hertfordshire.

Investigations revealed petrol, diesel and tar contamination in the Spitalbrook area owing to its previous light industrial use. The new site, 10km further south but still in Broxbourne, would be ready for testing in 2011, organisers said.
