Zero carbon bids invited

Plans for 450 sustainable homes in Peterborough are set to progress with the launch of a tender last week.

English Partnerships, the East of England Development Agency and Peterborough City Council have asked house builders to put forward plans for the Glebe Road scheme. It is the first step in a competition that aims to prove that zero carbon homes are economically viable on a commercial site.

Council leader John Peach said: "This will give impetus to the proposed redevelopment of the wider South Bank area." A preferred developer will be appointed in the spring.
