The UK is "miles away" from meeting its carbon emissions reduction target, according to The Independent. Citing research by think-tank Cambridge Econometrics, which suggests that instead of reducing emissions by 26 per cent by 2020 current policies will cut them back by no more than 15 per cent, the paper described the findings as "a blunt reality check" for the government.
