Planning in the media

So what exactly do you get up to during your three score years and ten on the planet - or 78.5 years to be exact? Channel 4 documentary The Human Footprint charted every aspect of our lives and delivered a mind-boggling array of statistics. On average we eat 10,000 chocolate bars, 21 sheep, 15 pigs, 4.5 cows and 2,327kg of potatoes, washing them down with 74,802 cups of tea. We burn 120,000 litres of fuel driving 452,663 miles in the eight cars we own over a lifetime. We walk 15,464 miles. Keeping clean accounts for 7,163 baths, 198 bottles of shampoo and 3.5 washing machines. We spend eight years in front of our 4.8 televisions and 9.8 DVD players. It is enough to make you want to take one of the 59 foreign holidays we have in a lifetime. Alternatively, you may need a drink - one of our 10,351 pints of beer or 1,694 bottles of wine.
