Developers invited to submit proposals for food store and homes in north London

Developers are being invited to submit proposals for a food store and homes on the former Hornsey Central depot site in north London, along with adjoining land owned by Sainsbury's. The coroner's court and mortuary, which currently occupy the site, would be relocated behind Bruce Castle in Tottenham. It is hoped that the food store could be open by Christmas 2009. Half of the homes would be affordable.
