Views sought on framework for Edinburgh

A planning framework for development of west Edinburgh has opened for public consultation.

The document, published this week, aims to update a 2003 framework in the light of latest proposals and policies such as Edinburgh Airport's masterplan, the capital's tram scheme, rail and road infrastructure for the area and the Gogar Burn sustainable development framework.

Deputy communities minister Des McNulty said: "The area is of importance not just to Edinburgh but Scotland as a whole. We must get correct plans in place."

Scottish Enterprise Edinburgh and Lothian global connections director Stephen Gallagher insisted: "The proposed strategy is critical to the growth of the local and national economy."
