HLM Architects designs New Victoria Hospital in Glasgow

A private finance initiative to build the New Victoria Hospital in Glasgow has reached financial close. HLM Architects designed the building, basing it on the concept of a "hospital in the park" to create a therapeutic environment in a mature landscaped setting. The 41,500m2 hospital will be built on an historic site next to Battlefield Cross and Queen's Park on the south side of Glasgow and is anticipated to act as a major catalyst in the area's regeneration. Construction is due to start in December and be complete by 2009.
