Plans for stadium submitted

Plans for a 22,000-seat stadium were submitted by Southend United Football Club this week. The club hopes to move from its Roots Hall ground, where it only has room for 12,500 people. The proposed stadium at Fossetts Farm is designed by architects HOK. The plans include a hotel and conference centre and would be linked to a shopping development. The club hopes to receive a decision on the scheme early next year.
