Former chemicals site in Manchester to be redeveloped

A 17.8ha former chemicals site in east Manchester is to be redeveloped as part of a £200 million mixed-use scheme. Harrow Estates has bought the Openshaw West site, near City of Manchester Stadium, from Ciba Specialty Chemicals. It wants to develop 92,900m2 of land with 900 homes, offices, shops and leisure facilities. The site falls in the masterplan area overseen by urban regeneration company New East Manchester. An application will be submitted later this year.
