Plans to regenerate land in Cumbria

An investment of £4.4 million to regenerate 48ha of derelict land in Cumbria has been announced by the Northwest Development Agency. Cumbria County Council has also pledged £390,000 towards the project. Barrow-in-Furness, Carlisle and Maryport are set to benefit from the fund. It will also support environmental improvements to the riverside in Workington with links between the riverside, harbour and town centre. The scheme is designed to complement the town centre's £80 million transformation.
