Enhancement of key gateway sites alone Sefton coastline

A framework to enhance key gateway sites along the Sefton coastline is to be prepared by consultancy Gillespies.

The area, which features sandy beaches, pine woods and a dune system, is one of the last natural red squirrel habitats in England. The project, commissioned by Sefton Metropolitan Borough Council and the National Trust, aims to raise the national profile of the area as a key visitor destination. Gillespies will prepare site masterplans and a robust business plan covering facilities at Victoria and Lifeboat Road on Formby Point, the Ainsdale Discovery Centre, the Lido near Southport and the planned Ribble Estuary regional park.
