Park proposal put forward on gasworks site

A public park is to be created as part of the redevelopment of Edinburgh's waterfront at Granton, it was announced last week.

Developer National Grid Property (NGP) said that the 45ha former gasworks site would include a small loch, paths, bridges, 1,000 trees and grassland.

It will form part of the Forth Quarter area, which also comprises the Telford College campus, a shopping complex, 6,500m2 of offices and 2,000 homes.

"We have committed a lot of thought and investment to the park," said NGP head of sales Stewart Macintyre. "It will create a valuable amenity and a highly attractive environment for people buying homes, students studying at Telford College and the wider local community. There will soon be a new and growing community here."
