255 buildings listed by David Lammy
Airfields linked to the First World War, the Battle of Britain and the Dambusters are among 255 buildings listed by culture minister David Lammy last week. The listings are the result of a thematic survey of military aviation sites by English Heritage that highlighted the importance of protecting airfields. A 1938 underground bunker in Uxbridge from where parts of the Battle of Britain were directed has been given grade I listing, while the operations blocks at Debden in Essex and Duxford in Cambridgeshire have been given grade II* status. A full list of sites can be viewed via www.PlanningResource.co.uk.
