Sunderland planners publish issues and options report

Sunderland planners published an issues and options report last week highlighting key concerns to be tackled in the city's forthcoming core strategy. Issues highlighted include a declining population, falling levels of port trade, physical decline, the underuse of parts of the city centre and the opportunities offered by redevelopment sites in the river corridor.

Priorities include achieving sustainable economic growth, stabilising the population, providing a mix of quality homes and protecting the green belt. The report is available from Sunderland City Council (tel) 0191 520 5555.
