BID in Reading wins support of local businesses

Plans for a business improvement district (BID) in Reading have won the support of local businesses. A four-month interim project will now be launched to prepare the necessary contracts, form a BID committee and collect the levy needed to deliver a business plan from April 2006 onwards. Reading's city centre management board is incorporating to become a community interest company and will delegate the running of the BID to a committee of its directors.
