Work begins on Lea Valley Athletic Centre

Work has begun on the £16 million Lea Valley Athletic Centre at Pickett's Lock, east London. The centre will incorporate the only 200m six-lane indoor athletics track in the south, as well as a 100m sprint track at first-floor level with changing rooms and support facilities below. It will be used for development and training by schools and clubs across the region and as the base for Enfield and Haringey Athletics Club. Designer David Morley Architects said that the issues it had to confront will prove invaluable for the 2012 Olympic development in the Lea Valley.
