Masterplanning to develop Guildford Cathedral to be carried out

Masterplanning to develop the Guildford Cathedral estate is to be carried out by Terence O'Rourke.

The company has been appointed as planning consultant, landscape architect and urban designer on the Stag Hill scheme by the cathedral's dean and chapter. The proposals to revamp the grade II* listed cathedral tie in with the 50th anniversary of its consecration.

The chapter is keen to see underused areas of the estate developed as housing, including a significant amount of affordable homes as well as improved clergy housing. The development will include further diocesan administrative and education functions, a visitor centre and improvements to the refectory, gift shop and bookshop.
