Barrow's public park reopens

Barrow's public park has reopened following completion of a £2.8 million restoration programme for Barrow-in-Furness Borough Council. LDA Design was tasked with upgrading the park to an original masterplan drawn up by Thomas Mawson in 1900 that was never implemented. The park has been laid out on revised proposals that reflect Mawson's vision. The development project included the reconstruction of the main entrance, the introduction of paths, hedges and ornamental planting and the rebuilding of a bandstand, demolished 40 years ago. A pavilion, play area and putting green have also been created.
