Houses to be developed on a former RAF site

A total of 1,250 houses are will be developed on a former RAF site in Bedfordshire by Bellway Homes after the ODPM allowed its appeal. The developer had appealed against Bedford Borough Council's failure to determine its application. The decision paves the way for Bellway to create a residential neighbourhood on the redundant RAF Cardington's Shortstown base in Bedford. The scheme also features commercial space, a primary school and community facilities. Bellway was advised by lawyers Shoosmiths and planning consultancy DLP.
