Barracks vision

A vision for the future of Crumlin Road Gaol and Girdwood Barracks in north Belfast was outlined by Northern Ireland's social development minister this week. David Hanson said that sensitive development of the 12ha area has the potential to create a regeneration project of international significance. Ownership of the grade A listed jail was transferred to the government in August 2003 and the decision to close the adjacent barracks was announced in February.
