Woolwich Barracks refurbished

Woolwich Barracks is to be refurbished and used to house 1,000 army personnel after a Ministry of Defence (MoD) study recommended that it should be retained. The site was due to close after the departure of the Royal Artillery in 2007, but the MoD has decided to create training and sports facilities at the site. However, Chelsea Barracks will be sold off after being vacated in 2008.
