Proposals for school playing field developments dropped

Proposals for one of eastern England's largest school playing field developments have been dropped. David Lloyd Leisure's application to build a sports and fitness centre at the Hewett School in Norwich had been called in and was set to go to a public inquiry in October. But the developer withdrew its application after concluding that the inquiry costs rendered it unviable. Norwich City Council Green Party member Adrian Ramsey said that the decision is a test case that could help block other playing field developments.
