Laing O'Rourke appointed main contractor for redevelopment

Laing O'Rourke has been appointed as the main contractor for the £350 million redevelopment of the former Edinburgh Royal Infirmary. The company will begin construction on the first phases of the Quartermile project within the next few weeks. The redevelopment of the 8ha site at Lauriston Place is a joint venture between Gladedale Group and the Bank of Scotland. Designed by Foster and Partners, Quartermile will provide more than 650 homes, 30,000m2 of office space, 8,000m2 of retail space and a hotel.
