Works begins on a road west of Newcastle

Work began on a road to extend the development potential of an industrial park to the west of Newcastle this week. The £2.8 million dual and single carrigeway aims to release land at Newburn Riverside for further offices and commercial development. The former power station site has already been redeveloped with 12,550m2 of office space and 11,450m2 of industrial units. When it is completed the park aims to deliver 180,000m2 of industrial floor space, attract up to £116 million of private investment and create 5,000 jobs. The road is scheduled to be ready by next spring.
