Plans to bury power lines across the Olympic site approved

Plans to bury power lines across the Olympic site in Stratford have been approved by the London Borough of Newham. The proposals by the London Development Agency are the first step in realising the development needed for the 2012 event. The lines will be buried in two 6.5km tunnels between West Ham and Hackney Marshes. Soil excavated during the tunnelling process will be reused for landscaping and construction works on the Olympic development.
