English Heritage register

English Heritage published its eighth buildings at risk register this week, revealing 1,430 grade I and grade II* listed properties in peril across the country. Chief executive Simon Thurley said that the number of buildings on the register is falling, but warned that a further 58 have been added to it this year. English Heritage was able to offer £4.3 million in grants to save listed buildings last year when the required figure was closer to £400 million, added Thurley. The register can be viewed via www.PlanningResource.co.uk.
