Eurokent Business Park failed in the Court of Appeal

A legal bid to block a leisure development at the Eurokent Business Park in Thanet failed in the Court of Appeal last week. Rival operator the Noble Organisation said that Thanet District Council was wrong not to require an environmental impact assessment. The Rank Group, which plans a casino and bingo hall at the site, argued that Noble's opposition was a blocking tactic. Lord Justice Auld agreed, warning that judicial reviews should not be exploited as a commercial weapon.
