Plans submitted for wind farm in outer Thames Estuary

Plans for what could become the world's largest wind farm were submitted this week. The London Array consortium has proposed a scheme in the outer Thames Estuary that could generate up to 1,000MW of electricity, enough to power more than 750,000 homes. The £1.5 billion project will require up to 270 offshore turbines. If consents are granted, the scheme could be completed by 2011.
